Czech Republic: Land Law & Agriculture

In almost every due diligence involving real estate in the Czech Republic, several legal issues emerge which are crucial for the existence (or non-existence) of ownership or other rights regarding real estate established in favour of certain subjects.

With the passing of the transitional period, and based on the Czech Republic’s commitments resulting from the Treaty establishing the European Community, there are no more useless limits on foreigners who want to acquire real estate in the Czech Republic, with the notable exception of agricultural land and forests.

New rules may be introduced for enabling agricultural land to be used for non-agricultural purposes – typically, the construction of buildings.
