Czech News - June 96 - New Rules On Determining The Origin Of Goods

Czech Republic International Law
The representatives of the CEFTA countries decided during their negotiations in June in Bratislava that the implementation of the new rules on the determining the origin of goods will be postponed from the 1 July 1996 to 1 January 1997. The main purpose of the change is to issue unified rules of origin for single commodities which would be valid for trade among European Economic Area members.

The change in these rules will have a significant impact on the application of the preferential customs duty rates within CEFTA countries. For example, goods which now obtain Czech origin through import and processing in the Czech Republic could be restricted from obtaining Czech origin under the new rules.
