Ireland: Money Laundering

The European Authority for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism has launched a public consultation on draft regulatory technical standards that will establish harmonised requirements for group-wide AML/CFT frameworks across EU entities and their third-country operations.

Deputy Governor Vasileios Madouros highlighted that there may be specific challenges in accessing cash at a more local level and in that regard, members of the public can make a submission to the Central Bank if they are of the view that there is a local deficiency regarding access to cash.

The European Union has adopted its 20th package of sanctions against Russia, introducing unprecedented measures including the first-ever activation of the EU's anti-circumvention tool and comprehensive restrictions on crypto-asset services. The package targets payment services, financial institutions, energy transport, and establishes new legal protections for EU firms while significantly expanding the scope of entities and vessels subject to sanctions.
